Gear should last longer

2011 May 14

Muggle and I were talking while we hiked the other day that some of our gear is already wearing out. For instance, our shoes need to be replaced. I mean, we spent upwards of $100 for each pair of shoes, shouldn’t they last more than 6-7 weeks? Then we realized … in that 6 weeks we walked around 600 miles. We have slept on the ground or a wooden shelter floor almost every day. We have worn the same pair of shorts and shirt and socks every day. I guess some wear and tear is to be expected. Smile

It looks like you will have a lot of “mowing” shoes when you get back home. Enjoying your posts. I read a lot of them when I pedal my stationary bike at home. Not quite the view that you guys have. Be safe!

You should look into getting some of those Hebrew clothes and sandals. Word on the street is that they can last up to 40 years, in wilderness!!! However, I wouldn’t use their compasses, they always seem to get lost 😉

Wow I think getting 600-700 miles on them is really impressive. I get new running shoes @ 300-500 miles (pedometer) and that is just working/walking because I start to hurt in the ball of my foot and arch. If you are happy with your current pairs, maybe you can order online and have them waiting for you at your drop locations and save yourself a good chunk of change. :)
