Let’s get on with it!

For the past say, two years, we have been seriously planning, preparing, saving, and organizing for the Appalachian Trail. It even has an envelope in our envelope system software (it’s called mvelopes.com — we highly recommend it. Click the link and give us credit if you sign up).

So many of our plans and dreams have been tied up in this singular event for so long and now that “it’s time”, we can’t wait to get out there and just start the blasted thing already! Sure, we’ve spent this week doing all the things that have to wait until the last minute, like checking out our gear, filling and weighing packs, etc. But by and large I think we’ve felt like we’re twiddling our thumbs in regards to “The Trail”. Just killing time, waiting for Saturday.

We have done all the necessary paperwork at work, handed over our responsibilities, and collected our final paychecks. We have saved everything we’re going to save, divided our money into accounts for easier tracking, found people to watch our house and cars, planned our stops and mail drops along the trail, and purchased all the gear we know we’re going to need.

Luckily for us, “Saturday” is now tomorrow. About a month ago we posted about those last-minute details, and now we’re feeling the exact opposite: We’re ready! Let’s just get on with it!

Or, as one of our outdoor gear outfitters used to say, “Thanks for shopping with us. Now get out!”

So excited for you! I remember you talking about this 7+ years ago. How awesome to see that your dream is becoming a reality! I can’t wait to hear about your trip along the way (when you have a chance to blog). :)
Take care, enjoy every minute, and be safe!!! :)

Seven years ago, wow! After that long and that much talk we almost HAVE to go don’t we? :)

I was talking the other day to a guy we’ve become friends with who is in his later college years that remembers sitting in our house during his early high school small group listening to us talk. We gotta make good on it now.

But it’s definitely happening. We’re hoping to get to a computer a couple times a month, and we can blog from our phones too — but they’ll be shorter kinds of posts.

      So excited!
